Mission Statement:
The learning community of Roan Creek Elementary School will work together to provide opportunities for all students to attain the necessary skills and behaviors to be successful and responsible learners before they leave our school.

Welcome! 

Welcome to the Roan Creek Elementary Website.  We first opened our doors on August 14, 2002 for students in Preschool through grade six.  We have approximately 500 students and 35 teachers including a Reading Specialist and a Guidance Counselor.  Our students take part in Music, Physical Education, Vocabulary, and Library classes.  We are equipped with two 25 station computer labs, three portable laptop labs equipped with wireless Internet connections, three portable netbook labs, SMART Boards in every classroom, and a portable ipad lab.
          Roan Creek Elementary is part of the Johnson County School System. We are located in the mountains of Upper East Tennessee.

Roan Creek Elementary has met all requirements for AYP.

School Improvement Goals

.In consideration of future NCLB requirements and analysis of TCAP and Report Card data, the following goal targets are identified:
 

1.  Continue to increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced from 42 % to 66% to meet NCLB / AYP requirements in Reading/Language.

2.  Continue to increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced from 52% to 60% to meet NCLB / AYP requirements in Math.

3.  Continue to increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced from 73% to 75% meet NCLB / AYP requirements in Science.

4.  Continue to increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced from 92% to 93% to meet NCLB / AYP requirements in Social Studies.

5.  Improve writing to achieve an average of 4.3 or above on the TCAP Writing Assessment

6.  Improve overall sixth grade EXPLORE test composite score to 13

7.  Continue to meet or exceed the NCLB / AYP requirement for 93% student attendance and the system’s goal of 95%.
